In-person & Online help

My services include general psychiatry (medication treatment) and insight-oriented psychotherapy (talk therapy) for adults, both online and in a local office. The problems I might be able to help you with include:

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • manic depression/bipolar illness

  • attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders (ADHD/ADD)

  • psychotic illnesses (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder)

  • psychotic illness in persons with developmental disorders (Autism Spectrum Disorder, chromosomal syndromes, intellectual disability disorders)

  • personality syndromes (depressive, masochistic, dependent, anxious, obsessive-compulsive, schizoid, narcissistic, hysteric-histrionic, paranoid, psychopathic, sadistic, borderline)

  • mild substance abuse disorders

  • standardized cognitive function testing

My medical perspective is that treatment can only be as good as the precision of the diagnosis established. Your dedication to improving your health is crucial for us to build a working partnership. This will help me to get to know you well and create optimal solutions based on your needs. Understanding the details of your history, the course of your illness, and how you respond to it will be instrumental in delivering a successful evaluation and then a focused treatment.

It is always a priority to relieve troubling symptoms. My other goal is to address the roots of your condition whenever that is possible. Psychiatric medications continue to improve, yet they still vary greatly in their efficacy and the side effects they cause. Your safety is of paramount importance, and I will recommend medications when the benefits outweigh the possible risks. Scientific evidence shows that many conditions improve with medications or with psychotherapy. The optimal treatment often combines the two. In some cases, it also can be essential to adjust your nutrition and exercise routines. Mental health problems could reach a point where they also affect your physical health adversely, possibly disrupting the cornerstones of well-being such as sleep and appetite.

I try and offer a non-judgmental atmosphere as a starting point for your treatment. The aim is for you to be able to talk openly and to feel heard and understood. Sharing your personal story can be a vital part of getting better. Talk therapy can help you recognize how the ways you use to go about everyday life can be adapted to serve your health better.
